HYPE: new Avatar comics



Sorry for the blatant plugging...but I thought people would enjoy this silly promo for the Nick Mag Comics Club and figures some people would be interested to know that we will be running all new Avatar comics!

What is the Nickelodeon Comics Club? Basically it's a subscription to what are referred to as the "special issues" of Nickelodeon Magazine. These include the All-Avatar magazines we did, and the ones that are all-Spongebob, "best of" collections. Nick Magazine has been doing these issues for years, but they never had an official name to tie them all together. Often they were referred to "Nick Mag Presents..." But now they are officially referred to as the Nickelodeon Comics Club.

Usually they have SpongeBob on the cover but there's ALWAYS some extra surprises as well. For instance, the Halloween issue currently on the newsstands features a 12-page Danny Phantom comic! The December issue will feature a brand new Avatar comic and that will be just the FIRST of a bunch of new Avatar comics we plan to run in the Nick Mag Comics Club!

What can I say about these new Avatar comics? That they will be made with LOVE! Everyone involved was either a part of the show, or a HUGE NERD for the show like myself. :)
So we all consider it a huge responsibility to tell stories that are true to the spirit of the show we love! And I hope we hear from the fans to know what they think!

SIDE NOTES: I found out that Comics Club subscriptions aren't available outside the U.S. because of high shipping costs. So I apologize for that! But the good news is that the comics we make are translated into a few other countries and languages like French and German. So be on the lookout for those! And we will archive many of the comic on our fancy new comics website:

I'd LOVE to do that! But for some reason the site isn't built to do RSS feeds yet. We're hoping when the comics blog is up and running we can serialize stuff.

I tried to subscribe to the Comics Club just for this, but it wouldn't let me. It said I had an error and I needed to put in a parent's name (I had put my own name in that spot). I sent you a message about this problem a while back and never got an answer.

It looks like the first one is a subscription to the regular magazine. The second one is the link to the Comics Club for sure.

The Zuko and Sokka interaction is fairly limited in the first comic, but I can GUARANTEE there will be lots more Zuko and Sokka shenanigans in future stories. In fact one is about a swordfighting duel between the two. It will be good stuff.

Yep, they are definitely sold in most bookstores like Barnes and Nobles and Borders. They don't have the same circulation as the regular nick mag though so some people have trouble finding them. :(

The first two of the new comics won't sadly, but we do have one in the works that's got Iroh and all of the White Lotus gang!

I'm not sure how to feel about this...most are pretty silly...and the only one that featured Zuko I didn't want to read (and still haven't)...

Yeah, we are a silly bunch over at Nick Mag. And since the comics have to be short it's easier to focus on the humor than serious drama.But we try our best to make them a fun extension to the show. But obviously we can't please everyone, but still appreciate you taking the time to check them out.
